Question Used car warranty

The Porsche US website mentions a 1 year warranty on select cars at participating dealers. Both dealers in Arizona plead ignorance and say Porsche doesn't warranty older cars, although they would be glad to hook me up with an aftermarket policy. I am going to buy a P-car next year after the Disco lease expires (pun intended)and am trying to decide between a new Boxter, 1 year old S model or a 1995 or so 911. Anyone know if any <img border="0" alt="[cherrsagai]" title="" src="graemlins/drink.gif" /> dealer offers this warranty? Thanks

If I remember correctly, Porsche offers a warranty on used models less than 5-6 years old. Sounds like those dealers are more interested in the profits they make on 3rd party warranty insurance policies. Consider going somewhere else.

A car sold as a Porche Certified Vehicles by a dealer are warranted by PCNA. In order to qualify, I believe that the cars cannot have been in any accidents or have had material engine/drivetrain issues. I agree with Bill - I think the dealers is trying to profit from selling you a 3rd party warranty - you could probably do better by sourcing the warranty yourself.

I have to agree with David, but wanted to add that "IF" you can get a car with a PCNA warranty it is well worth it. I was fortunate in that the guy I bought my 97 c4s from purchased through a dealer (with pcna warranty) and sold it to me only a couple months later.

I was told I could transfer the warranty for $25. Funny thing was, every record was in the computer and a couple different dealers pulled it up for me...they both did work and I never paid a dime for the transfer or any other work.

Since it wasn't my only form of transportation I was very inventive with some of the problems just to have it worked on under warranty. The dealers get reimbursed from the factory and the writer was more than happy to push up the work needed.
