Would also be interested in this - do you have any contact details? Perhaps we can take Randall up there?

Ok, finally found some details (sorry for the delay, had to wait for emails...).

The course in Norh Weald (Essex) is done by Andrew Walsh. He can be contacted on 08707 547 547. There is also a yahoo group dedicated to his activity (you need to have a yahoo id I think):

<a href="http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/1stlotus/" target="_blank">driver training</a>

The gist of it is:
- 4 drivers in a day @£105 each
- 2 drivers @ £205 each

Ok, I've now been forwarded some more information and its sounds great! It would be excellent if we could arrange a day with 4 Rennlisters.

See email I received:

LOCATION

North Weald Airfield
North Weald Airfield is in Essex, just a mile or so from the A414/M11 junction 7

The instructor is the highly qualified 1st Lotus driving school instructor Andrew Walsh A.D.I. B.Eng. D.I.A. I.A.M. The structure of the course is adaptable to the specific needs of each individual, the aim being to coach the most out of your car and yourselves, to increase your confidence.

The course covers everything from the fundamentals to the high performance racing techniques.

Some of the topics are:
The use of the controls, smooth acceleration, modulated braking, rotational steering, cornering, balancing the car on the throttle, the use of trail braking, trail lifting, understeer, oversteer, lift off oversteer, gear changing, heal and toe, skid control, spin avoidance and control techniques to name but a few, along with some of the more entertaining than educational, manoeuvres.

No one will be asked to do anything they are not happy with, except leave at the end.

The course will be conducted in a safe controlled manner to ensure safety and enjoyment.

The course prices are per person based on people sharing the airfield and instructor:

North Weald - Essex
£120 for the full day in your own car, assuming 4 people sharing the airfield and instructor
£235 each for a full day in your own car with only two people sharing the course and the instructor.
We can find the extra people needed for the day and we teach in any car.

ITINERARY

09.00am
Your meeting point will be at the Airfield where you will be shown to your instructor. You will need to bring your licence with you on the day. You will then be given a safety briefing by your instructor.

09.30am
Your course will begin. Depending on the day chosen (2 Person or 4 Person Day) you will be taken out into the Airfield individually and be introduced to new techniques "one at a time" taking into account your level of ability and confidence. You will learn techniques such as the use of the controls, smooth acceleration, modulated braking, rotational steering, cornering, balancing the car on the throttle, the use of trail braking, trail lifting, understeer, oversteer, lift off oversteer, gear changing, heal and toe, skid control, spin avoidance and control techniques.

12.00pm
Lunch Break

1.00pm
Continuation of course where you will learn new techniques on "The Corner" and "The Circuit"

4.00pm
Course Finishes

(There is no need for the use of helmets and there are food facilities located within the airfield)

The dates available for North Weald are:

Guys, any indication of interest on this? Looks like I might be able to get up to 12 people interested. Of course we wouldn't be able to go all on the same day, but maybe I canb try and leverage some kind of discount for a group booking.

Let me know...

Sounds great, count me in for a 4 person day. That is a very good price for pro tuition. I've been to a car show at North Weald Airfield before, and it is huge, and very flat.
I fear that i'll be driving home on illegally bald tyres though!

Okay, I'm in too.
I think I'll probably be in the same boat as Greg too.
Really must get a set of sticky rubber for these 17s.
I can bring a passenger too, who I'd be willing to let drive my car if it helps make numbers (I'll have his nuts in a pair of mole grips though !)

Hey, MarkC, your wheels turned up yet ?? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

woohooo, yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah (one more than Steve <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> )

Cheers,
John.
