Question wax removal

What do you recommend to remove dried wax from black bumper guards and trim?

Luckily I'm not talking about my P-car here.

Thanks.

Try One Grand Tar Gum and Wax Remover. You can get it from carcareonline.com.

Also, a little WD40 or some cooking oil on a rag will do.

Per Mr. Thomas... Also, a little WD40 or some cooking oil on a rag will do.

Holy cow, this really works! I just went down to the garage, and using nothing but 100% first press olive oil (the name is Vinny after all) removed every bit of wax from every car/motorcyle we own. All in about 10 minutes. It was almost too easy.

BTW, Dave, the oil can also be mixed with fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil to make a nice appetizer.

I hope the extra virgin oil didn't soak into the rubber, it'll streak when you try to apply a rubber treatment down the road. But I'm down with insalata caprese, Vinny!

I was also worried about this, so I made sure to wipe off all the excess immediately and thoroughly. I'm going to wait a couple of days and try rubber/vinyl dressing. If it streaks, I'll repost.

BTW Damian, I see you live in Jersey. If you go to any Metro DE's we should meet up for the insalata caprese. <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

Vinny, I'm of the 'track bad, wax good' school. After I've finished funding the kids college I'll get a track car, until then I drive this one daily. I've seen too many weekend warriors bring their cars home on a trailer-clutches, gearboxes, headgaskets. Wifey would have my head on a platter, not a nice primi piatti for me!

Now how do you get wax off of the canvas of a convertible top?

Yup I made a mistake and it looks awful. But no matter how much I wash it - the wax remains!
