Speed Yellow - Why?

Wow, that's one on me!! I consider myself a pretty estute Porsche historian. I've read most of the books. I'll need some really strong evidence to believe that 356/001 was originally yellow. I think someone was starting a rumor or just plain messing with you! Cheers! TC

The Porsche museum did not repaint the car. It was repainted by the first owner early 1950. Refer also to Karl Ludvigsen's 1977 book, "Porsche - Excellence Was Expected". In the middle of the book there illustrations on the development of the Porsche automobile family. The first 356 is shown as an orangey-yellow. The archivist in Porsche Stuttgart is Mr. Klaus Parr. He told me about the car being repainted, and also mentioned the fact about the car being yellow.
