Cool Porsche models ad nauseum!

What do you get when you cross a guy getting bored on his Christmas vacation away from work and a new digital camera? You get a Rennlist Gallery full of photos of his Porsche toy collection! Here's the URL: http://gallery.rennlist.com/gallery/exc911ence2

Even with 59 pictures, it's still not complete! Have to dig out the 20-odd other 1/18's out of the hall closet and I still haven't convinced myself that photographing all 100+ Hot Wheels Porsches in my collection isn't that bad of an idea... somebody help me!

Hey Exc...do you play with them often If you still have time on your hands why don't you arrange them so you can take a "group pic"

I doubt there's a wide-angle lens big enough to photograph them all at once. My fiancee keeps saying that they're taking over and I didn't believe her until I started photographing them all... they are taking over! I love it! She only puts up with it as she knows that one day, they'll all be in glass cabinets in the garage and the house will become Porsche-free... in my eyes, it just means that I'll need to buy a bunch more to fill up the garage AND the house!

WOW! Pretty cool collection - I especially like the 904 & the GT-1 models. Whole new set of issues, tho' What kind of maintenance costs? Concours condition or daily "drivers"? Mods?

Maintenance? I dust them off once a month or so and never drive them... just like a few Porsche owners that I know! Of course, their 'models' are of a bigger scale (1:1).

Favourite? Favourites more like it, I can't choose just one. If I could only keep five, they'd be the 904 Carrera GTS, 911RS (993 body), 911 GT2 (the Tuiles 'nude car'), 911 GT1 (1996 Mobil 1 car) and the 959. I should give this list to the local fire department so they'll know which ones to rescue!

Update: More pics added 3:57PM Pacific Time!

Thumbs up

Here are a few of mine that turned out for the "Billiard Table Concours". Sorry about the poor lighting, I used the flash because I was far too lazy to rig something better.

These represent about 1/3 of my "son's" Porsche collection.

A billiard table makes a fine Concours field... I may have to get one!

Nice collection your son has, I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a few of those cars!

Models Inc. Update: The toys have been up for the better part of a month and I'd like to thank you all for the almost 600 hits! Who would have thought people loved toys this much?

Food for thought: here are the most popular models on the site (sorted by number of views).

1. 1/24 Majorette 944 Turbo (front view) with 96 views!
2. 1/24 Majorette 944 Turbo (rear view) with 45 views... you 944 guys rock!
3. 1/18 UT Models 911 GT2 'Thules Nude Car' (top detail) with 37 views. (This one I thought would be number one... there's something about that naked lady on the hood.)
4. 1/18 Motorbox 959 (engine detail) with 33 hits.

The site has had an effect outside of the Rennlist community as well. As I type this, there are two ebay auctions for models (968 coupe & 944 cabriolet) listed with pics of the models posed on a white towel! Long live the towel!

I have a nice few select 1/18 scale units...

I like how CN notes that it is his "sons" collection... I tried that w/ my wife but failed.

BTW, a favorite of mine is the red UT 993RS also... But I have a black Kyosho 356 Speedster (that was expensive - but well worth it) that has to be the highest quality unit I have.

I just got a Carrera GT as a gift, its a great piece. I also have a GT1 that is super detailed.

I have not taken any pictures of any of them though...

I've seen that Kyosho Speedster... very nice indeed. One day I'll have one but for the moment, I have my eye on an AutoArt 1/18 911 GT2 (996) that just came out.

Have an umbrella in the trunk?

If that is so I had one of those, believe that it was my first Porsche!

This post has made my day!!

Since we are showing off models that we have, feel free to check out my web site on a 1/8 scale model of the 2.7 RS engine I have:

1/8 Scale engine

Note: It is on the end of a DSL line, so don't expect super high speeds.
