I read somewhere a few weeks ago that the German pronunciation would rhyme with 'books' (i.e. *****)...can amyone confirm this? Thanks...Keith

Keith is correct - it does sound like '*****' in German to most of us, although 'pukes' and 'dukes' above is probably correct bearing in mind the myriad of dialects within USA.

I've always gone with the "pukes" rhyme, with the y in there.

FYOOKS, to me.

Hi,
had a german friend with this as her surname - and she pronounced it '*****' - but maybe she was just being dainty?

try '*****' - I got this from a company in the UK with this name so it must be right ( Unlike the UK company GPT which opended in France - "GPT" in French means I need teh toilet !!)

The German girlfriend was closest with "*****" and of course she should know. and she wasn't being dainty-the German pronunciation is not near the f---- word. "*****" but with deep double o, As in "poohie"
