I've heard from co-workers about friends getting great deals on Porsches and BMW's via dealer/retailer auto auctions. Not your usual open/paid-admission auctions, but ones which you have to hold a retail or wholesale car dealer license etc. I'm in the SF bay area...anyone know how these auctions work and who to contact that may help source a particular type of car via the auctions? I'm thinking there's gotta be some people that takes requests and picks them up at auction for a commission or something.
Looking for a newer cayenne or m3. If anyone has any connections or knows where to start, pls let me know.
thx

Manhiem Auctions, and you can contact a small local car dealer (used or new), and they can buy and sell to you. Don't get a wholesaler, they can only sell to dealers and a wholesaler would have to run the sale through a dealer and there would be fee's added.
Most "buyers" dealers use cannot sell to the public, they work on commission and buy multiple cars for dealers they represent.
