info wanted on Porsche 936 junior kart
Hi all,
I have owned a Porsche 936 Jr. kart for about 15 years. Am looking for any information about same. For reference, this is a half scale replica of the 1981 LeMans winner driven by Jackie Ickx and Derek Bell and sponsored by Jules.
My best info so far is that these were commissioned by Porsche to celebrate the win at LeMans. Supposedly, about 100 were built, with most presented to the drivers, team members and other high officials at Porsche. My Jr. is number 81.
The 936 Jr. is an unusually detailed replica kart. It is powered by a 5 horsepower Briggs and Stratton flathead with a manually operated foot clutch, transmission with 2 forward speeds plus neutral and reverse, rack and pinion steering, disc brake, limited slip rear axle, 4 wheel coil suspension, working high/low beam headlights, turn signals, horn, taillights, brakelights, electric and pull starters, remote choke control, etc. The body is a very beautiful one piece fiberglass moulding except for the separately moulded rear wing. Sotheby's sold a 936 Jr. at auction around 1998.
I am looking for information, literature, and contacts with other 936 Jr. owners.

Hi there---Excellence Magazine published an article on the 936 Junior in the May 2002 issue. It should still be available as a backissue from the publisher.
