Question Carrara White versus 911 Carrera

I just noticed this. Apparently, according to my window sticker and the Porsche website, the color is "Carrara White" and everywhere else, the word is "Carrera," as in "The 911 Carrera."

Anyone know why that is?

Cool

Yes, as irritating as it may be, both spellings are correct and it just depends on what language you speak and what is being referred to.
The Porsche Carrera got its name from a famous set of races that Porsche won in the 1950's called the Carrera Panamerica. Carrera is Spanish for race. Panamerica refered to the fact that the race ran from the northernmost most point in North America to the southernmost point in South America. And, it has also lead to the name of the newest Porsche, the Panamera. You can actually read about that on the Porsche.com website starting today.
Carrara refers to a very special pure white marble found in the Tuscany region of Italy. (http://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrara) The Carrara marble is highly prized for its pureness in color (actually, its lack of colors).
So both are correct, depending on whether you are talking about the car or the color.

P.S. That is a VERY beautiful car you have there!
