I live in NY City and if I had to vote having lived in Northern Cali I would say Northern California gets my vote...all year round driving is really something you shouldn't sleep on...it will mean more miles on your car but California is king for cars and it doesn't get much better than LA for cars...they have so many shops...personally I like the NY area...no better place career wise...live on the outskirts of the City and we are close to a few tracks....Northern Cal or SOCAL is still better for driving

Another vote for Northern Cali here. The Bay Area is sick, and it's close to a lot of places to go drive for pleasure, plus a number of tracks. The weather is also great, with a balance of seasonal changes without the cold, drawn out, winters.

The emissions laws can be irritating though.

If you love driving on the track, I believe East Coast or North East has better quality tracks. The only track in California that worth mentioning is Laguna Seca, IMHO. Weather here may not be as nice as California but roads and scenary is much better. Again, only my opinion. Plus, California is overly expensive to live anyway (if you're young and single. No double income). Besides, over here you're closer to Europe so you can always fly over without tiring from long flight, rent a car, do a lap or two at Nurburgring like me here. Oh, did I also mention girls over here are a lot more friendlier??

Consider Greensboro or Raleigh. That puts you within 75 minutes of VIR. Everyone loves that track and the facilities.
