Default What would your fall back car be if???

Just thought I would ask this question to see where people stand. I want... no I need a 930 Porsche, it has been burning in me since I saw the first pictures in a magazine as a child.

If all things in the universe go right I should be able to make this a reality next year. My question is if all things don't go right, or for what ever reason what would "you" consider as a fall back car.

Or would you just wait a little longer to get the car of childhood dreams?

Just an FYI, some other cars I have considered:

C5 FRC Vette
C4 LT1
951
911 3.2L (might not feed my power needs)

But at the end of the day it is the 930 that I lust for... I just have a lil practicle voice that keeps swaying me from it in favor of other "performance" cars.

Just wait until you can get it... better to be patient than live with regrets. ;-)

If you really want a 930, and it costs 30K, but you can't afford it yet, and you buy a 15K Vette, have you saved 15K or thrown 15K in the river ?

Answer that and you'll know what to do.

get a p-car, most important is to get one in great condition so you won't have to fix it often and will be able to resell it for similar money when you are ready for the 930. By having another porsche to enjoy now and educate you on these cars will allow you to appreciate the 930 later. I would stick with an older model that shouldn't depreciate any more (like at 993 or 951). same applies to the 930, only get a good one other wise it may become more of a nightmare than a dream.
how about "if you want a vette you don't want a 930 or if you want a 930 you don't want a vette"
IMHO very different cars

Those are pretty rare and may cost nearly a 930...

CN - Mom's got an '84 with 73k miles, transmission had issues (2nd gear went buh-bye) and its been parked for a few years... figure $3k or so for trans, maybe another $3k or so engine (not the first time this car has sat for 2-3 years), and its up and running... dash pad needs replacing, there is a tear in the drivers seat, and it could use paint but looks good from 4 feet away... I'm fairly sure she'd sell this car for $16k or so, which could put you in a *nice* 491 (only 420 made in '84) for a good bit less thank $30k... a few pics (not showing any of the bad unfortunately) at www.gruv.org/911 - if you are serious, I can get LOTs of pix up for ya...
