Default 930 and 964 Turbo question

Hello,
I am contemplating between buying a 964 or a 930 turbo to replace my recently sold M3. From what I have seen, these two cars look pretty similar and I like the older Porsche body style. I am a n00b when it comes to Porsche, and since these cars are "old" enough in the car world, what problems should I look out for when buying these cars? Which one would you buy, 964 or 930? Are these two pretty reliable?
I recently saw a black 930 turbo on ebay and autotrader for roughly 39k at 50k miles from Avid Autosports in Florida. The car seems to be in great condition from the pictures. Is it a good/fair price for this car, and anybody know this car locally in Florida? I am new here so I can't post any link.
Thanks !!

A 964 is a non-turbo car. The 965 is the Turbo version of the 964. The 930's were produced up until 1980 or 1981 and then production ceased and the only Turbo's coming to the USA were what they called "gray market cars". The 930's were again produced starting in 1986 or 1987. The Early 930's seem to have a lot more power than the later ones based on comments from friends who own both.

I've never owned a Turbo , but do know that maintenance costs are higher due to the heat causing more parts to fail. The 964's have had belt distributor problems (dual distributor that is belt driven) at about 50-60K and some have had valve guide problems like the 84-89 Carrera's. Whatever you decide on, get a pre-purchase inspection (PPI) and don't believe any salesman when he assures you all is OK. You could feel the pain in the pocketbook for from $4,000 to $10,000 or more depending on the problem or problems

Similar yes, but....

The engine, body, suspension, A/C, etc are all different. The 930 has a raw feel to it vs a 964.

Look at the 911 turbo forum and the 964 forums, as these questions have been asked before.
