Default Helmet Cleaner

So,

it's towards the end of the season for us on the East Coast; and my helmet is starting to smell like stinky sneaker.

Well, not quite that bad; but you get the drift.

What do you use to clean the inside of your helmet?

I haven't a clue what to do, but there has to be a way to sanitize and clean the inside of a helmet. Afterall, it gets pretty hot and sweaty in there!

Anybody have a good method or product?

Best,

Jason Judd

This was discussed back in the Racing/DE forum.

Marc,

Yeah, I threw out my back a few days before the Glen event...****!

But, I was in much better shape for Limerock, and from what I heard, the weather was much better.

Hope to see you soon,

Jason

Soaking in water etc is fine except you can't obviously do that if your helmet is wired for a radio- don't want to mess up that! I've been Fabrezzing which I guess is better than nothing...

I used Fabreeze for the last two seasons (the sweet smell gets as annoying as the stink it's trying to cover up!). Luckily, my old helmet was out of Snell spec this season so I had to buy a new one. I bought a couple of Nomex balaclavas (from VAS Enterprises) and they keep the helmet nice and dry and smelling almost as good as new (assuming that I wash the balaclavas after each event!)
