Default buying a porsche?

I live in Idaho. I'm flying to Texas to buy a Porsche. Should I drive it back or would that be too much for it?

Depends on the shape the car is in, but if it is decent shape it should make it fine, it is also a great time to get to know your car.

I don't mean to be rude, but if you have to ask that kind of question, should you really be buying a Porsche? They are meant to be driven unless you are buying a wrecked car. Don't worry, just drive it and enjoy. If it starts, it will probably take you all the way home with no problems.

I'd be more worried about the driver than the car

These cars have a heritage of endurance racing in their blood. If the car is properly maintained, you should be able to HAMMER IT all the way to Idaho and beyond . They just go and go. I often find that the harder I drive them, the better they run and the happier they seem to be.

I am hoping you got a real good one, and that it provides you with the experiences you were hoping for. However, If you have any doubt, have it shipped or rent a trailer. The PO ought to be able to tell you what to do. LOL

I drove one last October from Oklahoma back to Ontario. In less than 36 hours we flew to Tulsa, bought the car, drove back, stopped in St. Louis, slept outside Chicago and drover it to Ottawa. 1750 miles. Hell we crossed Michigan at 100mph the whole way.

My opinion . . .. drive it.

Drive it for sure! (unless it is clearly not up to the task mechanically...)

As Porsche states, the top speed is not just a high number it can possibly hit...its the highest number the car can cruise at all day long.

Like previously stated, Porsches are endurance cars. If the car doesn't have any issues that would prevent it from doing so, you will have an enjoyable drive all the way!

I purchased my new one at Boardwalk in Texas and immediately drove it overnight to Denver. Great drive and opportunity to "get acquainted"

I drove my 85 911 targa from Vancouver BC to Washington DC (through the US), up to Toronto, back down to DC then back to Vancouver (throught Canada) (over 3000 miles from Vancouver to Washington DC). On the way down, it was just me. On the way back, had my then 6 yr old daughter with me. The car ran absolutely beautifully. Lots of fond memories. Would do it again in a heart beat.
