Default How to pronounce Piech?

Always irritated when people pronounce Porsche incorrectly, even after 34+ years. Great article this month in Excellence about Ferry's sister- read a lot about her and the "other" side of the family over the years, but have never known how to pronounce that name. Help...

Can't help with pronunciation right now (I can email my collegues in Stuttgart next week and ask them), but this should help remind people how to pronounce 'Porsche':

This is my favorite T shirt...I've got a drawer full of them (some still in plastic):

I've wondered that myself. I've heard Alan DeCadenet pronounce it as "Pee'-yay" (accent on first syllable). But I wonder if pronunciation rules are consistent with usage...

eg: For Christian Klien, the F1 driver, I've heard his last name pronounced as "kleen"
for "sprechen" (as in "Sprechen sie Deutsch"), the "ch" is pronounced like a hard-ish "k" (phoneticize it like "kh" for this example)...not quite a K, though...kind of like how the "ch" is pronounced in l'chaim

So would that mean "Piech" is pronounced like "Peekh" ?

Lewis, I think our Cayenne T shirt idea is dead on arrival... DeCadenet should know- have to listen to the DVD I have of his on Porsches again...haven't watched that for a while. Just remember a lot of rivalry between the Porsche and Piech clans- and how it forced the family out of control of the company back in the early 70's, just as I was getting into the Porsche "clan" myself.
