Default Which Porsche personality type are you?!

Alex Taylor did some research in 1995 and found these 5 personality types of Porsche owners.

Which Type are you?

Top Guns – Driven and ambitious; care about power and control; expect to be noticed.

Elitists - Old Money; a car - even an expensive car - is just a car; not an extension of one’s personality.

Proud Patrons - Ownership is what counts; a car is a trophy, a reward for working hard; being noticed doesn’t matter.

Bon Vivants - Cosmopolitan jet setters and thrill seekers; car heightens excitement.

Fantasists - Car represents a form of escape; don’t care about impressing others.

Do you agree with them and can you think of any other categories?!

Fun survey. Going to have to think about this one...

I'd have to say: Proud Patron & Fantasists

I think the best part of going to work is the drive because of that car. Don't mind being noticed either, but even if I wasn't, I'd drive nothing else. There is no substitute.

I guess I'd be an Fanatisist / Elitist.

Fanatisist -- love the style, handling, power, history, provenance. Just rarely get to fully
appreciate the car. It was hard to get into the 996 body style so bought a used 993. Now
if it had been a 997 ...

Elitist -- I ain't old money, and I ain't new money since the tech bubble burst but, at the end
of the day, a Porsche is just a car. Albeit a really great car that is one of the few cars that
drives like a car ought to drive. It's not meant to sit in a garage collecting 0.2 miles a year.
It's meant to be driven, loved, appreciated. Frankly I think it's stupid to spend all that money
just to "look" at it. It's a work of art that can only be fully appreciated when it's stimulating
all your senses. Oops, guess that puts me back at fanatisist.

Top Gun/Fantasist: Is control and power important? Hell yes. Do i live my life 1/4 mile at a time? No...more like 1.6 miles..or however long the shanonville track is

What about the "driver." Someone who actually owns the car soley for sport and their ability to perform. Someone who primarily uses the car for autoX, track, etc... Porsche being the choice becuase so few others offer the same driving experience?

im gonna go with rob951: proud patron & fantasist

i love my car, not what its supposed to make me look like. i like looking at it, i like working on it, i LOVE driving it. it takes time and money to make it the way you want it, so there is some pride, but the reward (adrenaline) is everpresent and instantaneous when driving. other rewards, like people looking at you, i could care less about. my insecurities dont need to be explicit haha.

its all about one thing: having FUN

Good question.
Proud Patron and Fantasist. I think the Porsche is a hot looking car, they make my knees weak. I don't really care for any other type of sports car.
I would drive a Porsche just for my own pleasure. I prefer flying under the radar. Personally, the last thing to impress me is a car.

Definately Fantasist.

To be honest I feel embarresed telling people what car I own and usually steer clear of that topic unless asked directly. However I will wax lyrical about handling, performance etc.

Case in point - I have the PSE with the button and spend about 90% of the time driving it in quiet mode. Occasionaly I will switch it to loud - usually either accelerating under a bridge with the sun roof open or while running at an AutoX.

I'm a definite Fantasists. Hop in the S2, the entire world goes away, just me, and the road. I wish ownership didn't include the "attitude" that is associated with it, (from the Elitists out there?) thats just not my style.
I'm with houldsworth, I stray away from the topic unless directly asked.
I love the car, and love the fact its a porsche, and if I had enough money, I'd want everyone to share my love for them and buy one for everyone who wants one, but I sadly I do not. Ownership requires a bit of money, as most of us here already know but it is like that with any hobby. I have just enough for the one I have.
Instead I want people to know I love to drive and focus my spending money on somthing constructive, not focus on the brand.

Of course, it is nice to reflect on that little badge on the hood

I'll leave off by saying:
everyone has their own hobby,
to each their own, and
Porsche... there is no substitute
