Late 90s 911, What to Buy??
Yes, I'm a newbie and I apologize in advance if some of you guys are getting tired of seeing this kind of question.
I'm in my early 40s and finally ready to buy a 911. some cars I've owned:
67 Camaro RS
90 Infiniti Q45
90 3000GT twin Turbo
Performance (acceleration & handling) and manageable maintenance are important, and I definitely want a 6-speed manual.
I was thinking of around a '99 yr model 996, don't think I can afford a Turbo (thinking of spending $30k - 35k). I'd consider a 993 if someone talks me into it.
Also what's the big deal or debate between air-cooled vs. water-cooled?
Any input is greatly appreciated and also let me know if I posted in the wrong place.

All the info you need is in each of the appropriate forums. Just keep in mind that these are German cars...Porsches, they can be quirky...do you really want to add water into the mix? Just my bias, but the 996 and Boxsters have engine and tranny problems in the early years respectively and tend not to be able to handle a beating like the 993's can. The 996's are just glorified boxsters (or visa versa)in my opinion (many...many shared parts), the 993's are the last of the quinticencial Porsches.
Just my .02 cents
