Hi, re my 22 Cayenne Coupe, I have had several Porsche models, still have a Carrera (997.2) and Macan S, the hand shifter in manual were always + push forward, - pull back…in my recently purchased Cayenne Coupe the manual shifting is the opposite, + pull back - push forward…does anyone know what the logic is for this major change? If anyone has any info kindly reply. To me, this change is counter intuitive…thanks, Stuart

Cayenne has never used a VAG transmission, but rather either Aisin or ZF. Having said this, the shift lever is electronic shift-by-wire, so the effect of forward vs. rearward push could be anything the software engineers want it to be.

Beautiful ride…thanks for your reply, after owning 6 Porsche’s in the last 10 years (all pdk’s) I cannot figure out the logic on this major drive change and why the ‘soft wear engineers’ would make such a major change…called Porsche but cannot get any explanation…this is a major change - in manual, why pull back the shifter to go forward?! Good question, and one that may go unanswered. 964 and 993 Tiptronic have + / - in the opposite orientation compared with the 9Y0 ZF shift lever.
