Hi all!
I have been working on a small passion project this year and wanted to get some of your thoughts on these coffee mugs I have created. They are not specific to a certain year cylinder but are inspired by the overall design of cylinders used by these cars.
The outer casting is MIM injection lightweight Aluminum and the inner cup is double-walled stainless. The handle is also Aluminum that has been powder-coated black. These are early prototypes and the molds still need some adjustments but we are getting there.
Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I work on wrapping up this project. Thanks.
No worries. I run a multi million dollar a year wholesale mug business. Manufacturing, marketing, import, wholesale warehouse, distribution, and design. Just thought you might be interested in possible opportunities it the passion project becomes a business project.
I should mention that the pictures posted are of the actual production unit that has been manufactured. The photo without the inset cylinder is simply missing its cup.
You can get them here. Currently pre-order. We don't expect to sell to many at all due to a small market causing high production costs. https://finnedmugs.com/collections/all

High production costs = high price creating limited demand ensuring small market. So if someone could significantly lower your production costs and you could sell the item for half the price do you think you might actually create more demand and a nice business?
You already have a manufacturer, but at almost $100 for a small capacity coffee mug your market is incredibly limited, especially if they must be pre-ordered and not immediately available. At $29 you could probably sell a lot of em. There is most likely an easy way to achieve that. Why not explore? Food for thought if you're interested. I would not have mentioned anything but I think it is very cool and marketable niche item at the right price. It is my area of expertise. PM if you like. I really thought I could be of some assistance if this was a profit oriented endeavor for you. Hopefully my comments are taken in the constructive and complimentary way they are intended. It is a nice item. I won't comment further except to say, it's cleverly designed with a bigger market than you may think.
