They got the movie right, just not the correct car. This is the most iconic car from LeMans…

To me, the '73 2.4 liter from Failure To Launch should be on this list only because I swear this movie is what kickstarted the price soaring on pre-993 Porsches. In 2006 when this movie came out, the only "every man" (aka, not Turbo 3.6, not Flachbau, not 2.7RS, not Speedster, etc...) air-cooled that wasn't concours condition that brought more than $30K were 993s. The 964-and-older higher mile driver condition P-cars could be had for around $10K (even cheaper with faded paint, etc...). Matthew McConaughey's practically out-of-work character portrayal made it cool to drive a cheap car, because of course it was an old Porsche!

Haven't seen Top Gun 1986 (at least not recently); but the photo looks like a Speedster not a Spyder. My dad had a '57 Speedster that was stolen at the Connellsville races south of Pittsburgh in about 1960 . . . and never recovered.

100% agree. IMHO, the 928 in Risky Business belongs in the Top 3 or better. Most of those films merely employ Porsches as props while the 928 in Risky Business is critical to the story - it symbolizes Joel's struggles with maturity. I can't quote a line from any of those other films, but who doesn't remember: "So, who's the U-boat commander?"
Then again, I was a teenager in the 80's, so I'm a little biased. Plus, Rebecca De Mornay. Any questions?
ps. An oddball favorite of mine: THX-1138. The final chase sequence features a couple of 356s.
