Crash Slices Porsche In Half, Fatally Ejecting Driver | Orange, CA
12.23.2022 | 10:19 PM | ORANGE - A crash sliced a Porsche GTS in half and fatally ejected the driver along with the vehicle's engine, gas tank, and a wheel, Friday night. The deadly crash was reported on the southbound SR-55 Freeway at the Katella Avenue off ramp when a silver 2019 Porsche 911 GTS struck a guardrail at the beginning of the gore point around 10:19 PM. The Porsche, which some witnesses say was racing with another vehicle prior to the collision, was sliced in half by the guardrail while its male driver was ejected into the roadway. Medics pronounced the driver deceased at the scene and discovered debris including the vehicle's engine, gas tank, and a wheel had been launched hundreds of feet across the nearby off ramp into a ditch. At least two vehicles sustained punctures to their tires as a result of the scattered debris and multiple lanes were closed until further notice while authorities investigated the deadly crash. No additional information regarding other involved vehicles was immediately released and witness reports of possible street racing could not be confirmed.Terry

I wonder how fast he was going when he hit the the guardrail, and if there was a crash barrier at the gore point. I would think it would take some serious speed to tear apart the car like that.

Almost guaranteed to be a case of terrible driver skills/car control combined with overconfidence in their own driving skills. No excuses to spin out on a highway like that.
If you want to do stupid $hit at least learn how to drive by going to a track for instruction so you know the limits better and develop some reflexes to catch a car when it steps out. It doesn't even take long, usually a single weekend is enough to teach someone to be a 1000% better driver on the edge of grip. And then when one gets hooked on track driving crazy high speed street driving becomes some watered down imitation amateur hour version for driving and doesn't have the same thrill.

I have to say that a "concrete wall" while perhaps stopping a vehicle from crossing into oncoming traffic is not the best solution for absorbing and reducing impact forces on the crashing vehicle ... armco and other solutions are much better at mitigating those forces...

Tragic.
We've all made poor decisions in cars - so I won't judge. Thankfully no innocent motorists were injured or killed. I'm guessing there are some dashcam vids out there that captured this accident...
He was obviously going tripped digit speeds when he collided with that barrier and it did as good a job as it could in absorbing the impact, but public roads and the barriers around them are not engineered at race track standards...
