Wheel lock socket issue
2001 Turbo. I removed my front tires for the first time the other day and found the socket for the locking bolts (brand unknown) required a 1/2 in extension, because the square hole was sunk down into a 16mm (I think) female hex. There is no 1/2 inch extension/breaker bar in the tool kit...no 16mm male hex adapter that fits the 19 mm wheel bolt remover in the tool kit...nothing that would work to remove the locking nuts. Luckily I discovered this in the driveway, and not on the road with a flat. So I need to carry a 1/2 in extension and wratchet/breaker bar just to remove the locknuts.
Or, is this some Euro thing and there exists a 16mm hex adapter that fits the Porsche tool kit? The tool kit appears complete, with no empty pockets. Any thoughts appreciated by a first time Porsche owner. Thanks.

I think the likelihood of someone stealing your wheels is remote at best. If you manage to lose the lock tool you will really have a problem! Just order 4 new lug nuts and be done with the wheel locks, put the tool along with the 4 lock nuts in a bag and keep it for originality and the next owner.

They actually do make a key that fits the lug wrench tools in the tool kit:
Just need to determine the diameter, number, and shape of teeth for the correct tool #. But I may just remove them as you suggest. I've never had them on my S5 and never had a problem in 7 years of ownership.

Like others have said, getting rid of the wheel locks is probably your best bet. BTW I love your 996 Turbo, my friend has a 2004 triple black turbo cab with 500 milers on it and it looks great.
