I cant imagine any of this cars will be sellable, it would be a liability nightmare and would be silly for porsche to risk putting one of these on the road.. This cargo will need to be declared a loss for insurance purposes. From that perspective, rebuilding these cars should not be dependent on Porsche assessing the damage. The cars should be declared lost and the rebuilds should start. I'm hoping I get some sort of assurance from my Porsche SA today - I dont need a timeline, I just need to know that the car will be rebuilt exactly as it was spec'd.

Thanks for this. I lost a GT3 Touring that I’ve been waiting on for 18 months….. now what? A bit disappointed with the lack of communication……

I'm not sure what else you'd expect them to say at this point besides what was posted in Track Your Dream. The ship is still on fire and isn't in a port. What more could they communicate?

Time line of investigation

I think the real issue will be the investigation to understand how and why this happened. I would think Porsche will semi shut down shipping until they absolutely know what happened.

My TTS was on the ship. Posting here to track the thread.

My dealer basically said the same thing...they will let me know as soon as they know anything. They had 13 cars on the ship.

I should be able to confirm if they're shutting down shipping soon enough. While my wife's Macan S was on this ship, my GT4 just missed it and is sitting in Emden waiting on a boat. Been there since 2/3.

Why wouldn't it be rebuilt? Not sure I understand your concern.

During the conrod fiasco I think we all learned that Porsche will communicate as little as possible and take an inordinate amount of time to do so. The communication will probably be from PCNA to the customer and the dealer won’t be looped in until later.

Edit: Judging by posts below, Porsche is handling this very differently than the connecting rods. Good to hear.

The liability issue is huge. I had a bit of experience with this many years ago..a trainload of new Jag XJS derailed. Some were not badly damaged. All were scrapped.

Quote from another thread:
"Lithium-ion batteries in the electric cars on board have caught fire and the blaze requires specialist equipment to extinguish, captain Joao Mendes Cabecas of the port of Hortas said. It was not clear whether the batteries first sparked the fire

Just heard from my SA. This is directly from his email (which he copied from an internal email):

"The Felicity Ace vehicles will be centrally reordered beginning Monday when C@P is available. Reordering is not a statement on the status of the Felicity Ace vehicles, but rather a recommended contingency since full details remain unclear. PAG is helping us with production, and will prioritize these cars to the extent feasible.

The plan is, we will replace all LF/SL/VF units with new buckets. For KF units, Distribution will reorder these centrally, and provide you all com#s. We anticipate some issues relating to order stops, but in most cases, the cars will be the same.

This update is light on specifics, but this is an early heads up to let you know the plan at this time. If there are questions, please let me know."

Sure. I took "rebuilt" to mean start the build process over from square 1, not salvage the vehicles and "fix" them. Maybe I misread OP's post.

EDIT: I think you misread OP's post. "The cars should be declared lost and the rebuilds should start. I'm hoping I get some sort of assurance from my Porsche SA today - I dont need a timeline, I just need to know that the car will be rebuilt exactly as it was spec'd."

My dealer just called me to say he just received a letter from Porsche stating that all cars will have new build slots right away, with a goal of replacing all of them in the next 90 days.

Awesome, this is the info I was hoping for when starting this thread.

Can someone help with acronyms C@P, LF, SL, VF, KF, Com#

Com# = commission number; other than that not sure.

The bolded is my concern since there are some stop orders on PCCBs and PDCC - so I hope these cars will not be affected by that and they'll prioritize rebuilding to original spec.

The main concern is around the current stop orders affecting the rebuilds.
