Question New 4-door Porsche GT Coupe announced

I am surprised this has not hit the boards yet. Anyway it is official. The 4-door Porsche with V8 or V10 up front (3 engine choices) is now official.
The story with pictures can be found at www.auto-motor-und-sport.de
2008 model to be manufactured at Leipzig. Scroll down the page, the story is on the left with a picture of the car. Click on the car and it will take you to the rest.
Ciao,
Adrian

Official? I see nothing official in the text, just rumours. As for the picture, they just took a picture of the CGT and transformed it into a sedan.

Ok, the 4-door Porsche is much more than a rumoured product, that's for sure. But Porsche hasn't officially announced it yet. Neither the specs nor the design are official yet. Or did I miss Porsche's announcement?

Greetings,
--Pierre

I read the article and it doens't sound official. It just says that more signs are pointing to it. That's all. It also mentiones that Porsche might be looking for someone to cooperate with on this project, however it also adds up to build it all by themselves.

When auto motor und sport announce something it is fact. They are the premiere auto magazine in Germany. The magazine versions contains much more information. Porsche would not allow this stuff to go ahead if it was not factual. Believe it or not guys it is coming and it always has been for that matter. This is called smoothing the way get all the grief and whining over now so the official launch is not a surprise to anyone. Auto motor und sport broke the story of the next generation Boxster and the 997. Everyone then said, oh they are all photoshop pictures! Wrong.

PS: The new 4-door is based on the 989 which was designed and built in 1990 and has been officially confirmed to myself as being built. I also remember hearing all the same things when the Cayenne story was first aired by the same magazine.

They show pictures of the 989 too - which, in my opinion, looks much better. Don't like the rear end of the GT at all.

We have to expect this of Porsche - they have been innovating for decades now!

Hmmm...I've seen several photoshopped pics of the 4 door, but none with suicide rear doors. That's innovative!

The signs concretize themselves that 2008 a fourth model row of Porsche come. Planned is a Coupé with four moving in opposite directions opening doors. They are always out of my league - I'm too mean to pay new (plus my wife would not allow it!). Just wait a few years - big saloons always drop through the floor, premium make or not...

Cheers,

David
