Mixing Tires
Ok I need to order REAR tires for my car.
I called up tire rack and wanted to place an order for
Yokohama AVS Sport 265/35/18 ZR They have some on special for 175
AVS SPORTS LINK
The guy told me that they were porsche boxster OEM tires and that I shouldn't mix different front and rear tires. I guess the non porsche OEM AVS Sports are 238. Whats the difference??? I have PZEROs on the front and they are just out of my budget this month. Is it really that big of a deal to mix the tires?? Can I just order the 175 tires online?

Generally bad idea to mix tires, especially on a performance car. Different tires have different breakaway characteristics... in an emergency situation this can turn a gentle, controllable slide into a viscious snap spin... under braking it can completely throw the front-rear bias off... causing lockup... in the wet they may start to hydroplane at different speeds.... bad news.
