BMW M Coupe

Ian, one is a regular hot rodded 3 series, the other is the coupe version of the Z3 that has similar performance upgrades-kinda looks like a mini estate (Volvo 1800ES, Lancia HPE, Jensen GT) that sort of thing.

Hot rodded 3 series is the M3. I think we are all talking about the M coupe that is based on the Z3 Chassis but with a bigger engine. ..... Atleast thats what I was thinking.

There is only one M Coupe which is the same as a M-series Z3 Coupe. Just for clarification, BMW also made a M-series Z3 convertible which is known as the M Roadster. Pretty logical....huh?
A M-Coupe is no more goofy than a 968 Cabriolet and just as rare.

And about the M coupe Z3 MZ3 etc etc confusion, here it is really simple:
There are two Z3's, the Z3 roadster and the Z3 coupe, both available with a couple of different engines.
There is the M roadster, which is similar looking to the Z3 roadster in looks, but not all that much else.
And there is the M coupe, which is similar looking to the Z3 coupe, but as above that's where the similarity ends.
The Z4 is the Z4. If you are in a state that requires front license plates you'll know you are looking at a Z4 if the plate makes it look like a big hamster with buck teeth.
Ok, maybe it's not that simple...

Smaller flares front and rear and different front spoiler than the M Coupe, but not a bad looking car. Seems to be one of those vehicles you either love or hate - reminds some people of the AMC Gremlin. It's a classic if you ask me with the potential to be a collector auto.

I'm sure when the Speedster came out there were people that thought it looked like a bathtub or the Maserati Tipo 60 looked like a Birdcage.
The M Coupe is so unique and so different, it's not hard to understand why some people find it to be butt ugly and others are stunned by its beauty.
Oddly, I get more compliments on the MC than my Coral Red 964 Turbo.

M Coupe-GT3
I owned an M Coupe for four years. It was a total blast! It was a pure extention of your body and mind. You think left it goes left, etc.
My car was the 2000 model with the S52 engine (240HP). I put a dinan CAI and supersprint exhaust with the stage II software. It went like a shot out of hell. Kept up with Vipers, etc.
Then came it's big brother. The GT3. Better handling, better speed, better everything. I really loved that car.
The M Coupe now is certainly an enormous bargin. Good examples of MY 2000 go for low to middle 20's. One of the best bang for the buck cars you can get.

Personally i find the M-Coupe to be one of those cars that is so wierd looking (borderline ugly) that its good looking. I agree the car has really nice lines. If i had the money...yea id think id get one (along with an M5, 911 Turbo, 944 Turbo...etc).
