Default CTEK trickle charger issue

I have a CTEK trickle charger hooked up to my Boxster S by way of the power outlet (cigarette lighter). When I first hook it up it charges fine. A few hours later or maybe the next day the CTEK flashes, indicating that it has lost the connection. Using a voltmeter, CTEK is still putting out voltage, but checking the cable going to the outlet, no voltage. The connector is still in the cigarette lighter but if I push it in gently, the voltage is restored indicating that the connector work itself out over time breaking the connection. Any suggested solution to this pesky problem? Thanks.
