Question for Porsche PDK and keyless entry owners: if you push the "stop" button while in D, does the system switch to P and also shut the ignition? (It does in my wife's MB E400.)
There is a very easy solution to this... Here is how Range Rovers handle it (new, say 2014 and up, I have a supercharged rover 2016).
When I pull into garage, I shut the garage door behind me while car is running.
I'm in San Francisco / the city so the less time my garage door is open the better.
When I put the car in park, most of the time the start/stop kicks in and the engine cuts off. It will turn back on if I sit there for awhile if voltage gets low etc.
*** Note that I never turn the car off with the button though ****
I get out. The second I open the drivers door, the ignition turns off. Dash lights go out.
In other words... the car shuts systems off (regardless of key proximity) when the drivers door is opened and start/stop is active, IF the car is in park. That would seem to be the solve.
PS - If the car is still in Drive, it beeps like crazy and gets angry. If the car is in drive, start/stop feature kicks in, and I hit the start button to turn the car off... the car automatically puts itself in park and turns off.
