Default For Porsche Boxster 986 or 996 Narrow Body: a set of OEM 18” wheels Turbo II Twist

Here is a set that I kept from my last 996 C4 Cab (narrow body).
To make it fit a “narrow” body, this is a kind of “hybrid set” :
The front pair are Porsche OEM from a 996 Turbo, Hollow spokes, light ones, i.e.: 9.65kg, for being 8” wide and ET 50
These are “easy”, they fit naturally on any 996 Wide body or Narrow body, as well as on a 986 Boxster.
The look is a bit different than the Boxster OEM wheels, as these are “Turbo Twist” rims from the 996 Turbo model (sometime these rim are called “Turbo II”.

The rears are 10” wide and have the exact same look and design as the front, but the spokes are “solid” (non-hollow). (This is why I call this set “hybrid”.)
These do not come from a 996 Turbo, but from a 996 Carrera 4S.
They are more heavier than the hollow spoke ones, i.e.: the weight is 13kg.
Note that the rear rims of a Turbo (the ones that have hollow spokes) would not fit a Boxster nor a 996 Narrow body. These are 11 wide, and would touch the tubes of the shock absorber on the rear inside. I tried, and to clear it out, you would need such a wide spacer that the other side would stick out of the fender, and then the tires would rub the fenders on a Boxster. On a 996, the do “barely” fit, but, it is not elegant at all, as they stick out of the body lines. (I also tried and even took a photo, for those would be interested to know !)
The 10” wide from a C4S would fit directly any 996 Narrow body very well, this is where I had these first, well before on the Boxster !
To fit them on a Boxster 986, you need 25mm spacers, together with long bolts.
The following photos are from my Boxster, and was taken with such setup.

Why I’m parting with these, that I liked very much (it give a quite unique design touch of the Boxster, being “period correct” OEM wheels) ?
Well, since I upgraded my front brakes, with a Brembo “big brake kit” (including 6 pistons calipers), ..these wheels do NOT fit anymore, so, I cannot use them anymore. (I have no 996 anymore either !)
I will remove the tires (Michelin Pilot Sport) in order to put them on new rims, that will accept my big brakes (the OZ Alleggerita HLT do that, as hopefully I have another set, ..with Nitto NT01 installed) so, the set is offered for sale as wheel and accessories (4 center hubs engraved “Carrera 4”, 2 rear 25mm spacers and 10 long bolts for the spacers on the rear.

Price : US$ 800.00 for the complete set (no tires).
Shipping : as per cost of it, the best for sure, would be a “pick-up”, in the San Francisco Bay area.

If someone would like to fit these to a 996 narrow body, than the spacers and long bold are not needed, and I would do a U$ 50.00 discount.

Damn, where were these a week ago when I was looking for a set of 18s? Hah. I just invested in a new set of tires for my 17s, so I'm out of the market (for now...)

Twist IIs are awesome, and unique to see on Narrow Body cars. Good luck!

..They were in my garage ! (in the Bay area)
And, I would have delivered these to you, as I'm quite often to SF !

Yes, I fully agree, the T. Twist II are just perfect for the 986/996 cars, these are the great "period correct" ! (or, to my eyes, ..like the Fuchs are for the early 911 !)
It was a pain to find that they did not matched anymore the Brembo big brake kit. I was all but not ready for that news !

The tricks to make it happen on the rear of a Boxster, is 1) to have 10 wide (that do not exist in hollow !), these are the ones from the C4S ! and 2) not having fears to put a large spacer (25mm) or a bit more if very wide tires, and for sure, this, with long bolts. (The front are just piece of cake.)

Thanks
Thanks for the message, will see !

Photos of the wheels, fresh from today
(! Sale is for the rim only, no tire included !)

As you can see, there are some scratches and marks, but no dings, and no curb rash.
for info, The Porsche parts number are :
Front hollow spokes, 8Jx18 ET50 : 996.362.136.04
Rear solid spokes, 10Jx18 ET65 : 996.382.140.004

These would be a great base for a complete “refinishing”, to have a perfect set, “period” correct” for a 996 narrow body, as is. ..Or for a 986 Boxster, with spacers and long bolts :

Yes, if you want to fit a narrow body, you have no choice than "mixing", as the hollow do not exist in 10 wide ! And, to have tried 11 wide on a narrow body, frankly, it is no so elegant !
For sure, you can go with a full "solid spoke" set, ..but, the less "unsprung mass" you have, the best it is, and this imo, is even more important in the front for the handling, so ..the reason of this strange mixed set !

About the weight gain in the front, it is about 2.3kg per rim (5 pounds), so, it is a significant gain (over the same size/look ..with solid spokes) !
See for info one source for Porsche wheel type and weight :

To answer a question that I just had, i.e.: Why I do not want to sell the tires that are currently on these rims:

On these rims, I have currently 225/35 R18 on the front, that is not standard "Porsche" and, are not "N" specified. There are Pilot Super Sport (current model), and not Pilot Sport as the rear ones (older model).
For the size, the reason I did made this selection, is that my Boxster (that is essentially a track car) has PSS9 suspension, “GT3” lower control arms, etc.. and has been adjusted in the low side, (with negative camber).
With the 225/40, on some (road) curves, the tires are in contact with the inside of the fender (the black plastic protection), so, to minimize this effect for my "open road" set, I got smaller tires (35 ratio instead of the recommended 40).

On the rear, I have 285x30, on the 10" wide. These are Pilot Sport N3, that have some time already ! (made in 2012, ..or a bit in the “old" side, i.e.: imo, no good to run such type of car with tires that are older than I would say 6 years, or ..only about 2 years of good life time left, knowing also that they were not exposed to sun, been stored inside a garage.)
They were on my 996 C4 cab, the car that I had before the Boxster.

I think we should keep on mind the Californian tragedy of the Carrera GT that were equipped with 9 years old tires, ..this when Porsche recommend on the CGT no more than 4 years old tires for such high perf. car.

To conclude : while I’m convinced that the rim set is a very great set of rim to put on any 996/986, I would not feel that the current set of tires currently on it, (that I do assume for me), would be “recommendable” to sell.
So : no, I do not want to sale these rims with the current tires on it.

Also, with the current tires dimensions, I have more than 2.2% of difference in the Front/Rear circumference dimensions, that would be no good for the central differential of any C4!
