If this car is still around next month when I take my GTO to Durham for a new turbo and a new tune, I will have to pick it up. So please sell it so my wife doesn't kill me.

There's lots of 928 guys that love their autos. I'm a manual guy myself, but wanted to get into 928's, so bought the best on I could find in my price range. That was an auto.
I was pleasently surprised at the performance and the overall package.
But I'm a manual guy, so got a 5sp 928, and the auto is for sale.
But after having owned the auto for a bit, I can see why some of the guys love them.
Re not having sold the 928 already, I think you have to keep in mind that there is a relatively small potential buyer pool or Porsches. Even less for 928's. Even less for autos, and on and on and on...

It's only been driven 15K in 5.5 years?? That's 228 miles per month. Garage queen or mechanics friend? (no disrespect intended but curious)
And, do the 928 Automatics have that rubber plate in it? Had a 944 Auto and the rubber plate thing was $1500 to replace.

I've owned the car since Nov 2003. I guess it is a garage queen, I don't drive her in the rain and it is not a daily driver (My Civic is).
New plugs and wire set when I got her, Mobil 1, new filters etc... A/C does not blow cold - found an aftermarket kit that includes the compressor and hoses for $695...if I keep the car, that's probably the route I'll take.
Not sure what was meant by the "rubber plate thing" ... you've got me there.
I've driven Parker C's '88 928S4 5-speed here in Williamsburg - very nice car and very quick! But, I've got no complaints with the performance of my auto, its kick-down feature and the LSD.
I do think I may have a rear wheel bearing needing replacement...notice what sounds like "bad tire" noise in the rear when traveling between 35-45 mph over small dips or in turns. Brand new tires and wheel alignment - and noise remains.
Car's for sale in Williamsburg, VA. -- I've only advertised it on this forum and recently via Norfolk Area Craigslist.

Sorry for the very delayed response. I've been out of town, and (thankfully) without internet access the whole time.
Neverlate gave explaining my statement a go, but I'll add to it. I, too, prefer to drive 5 speeds. To me, in any car, a 5 speed gets the driver better connected with the overall driving experience, and I hate the typical lack of instant response most autos provide. A 928 auto, though, is the exception to the rule. With a kickdown bypass switch installed (which costs all of $10 at most, and takes less than 20 minutes to install), hit the throttle and the car is off like a rocketship. No downshifting required, no clutch delay or slip. Just speed! 928ers call it the BWWWWAAAAHHHH experience. Some 928 drivers do not like the cumbersome launch typical in commuting conditions (just easing onto the gas, nothing crazy). This is because it starts off in 2nd gear, and that's the case because there's enough torque from this engine that in 1st gear, it's too easy to spin the tires (without LSD). With a kickdown bypass installed, and if other conditions are correct (throttle cable position & tension, among others), this issue is gone. Lastly, a 928 auto is a fantastic commuter car, reliability issues aside. They are incredibly comfortable yet nimble. I live in a heavy traffic area, and while I don't commute in mine, I do get stuck in traffic at ridiculous times, like 3 pm on a Sunday. It is those times when I am thankful that my toy is still at least somewhat practical.

As far as the rubber issue that the 944's had, no this transmission is a different beast, if I had the money Id jump on that car in a second, unless you wanna trade. Further more Id do a tranny swap if the auto drove me nutty. Very clean car BTW.
