'05 C2 997.1 - Considering PPI
Looking at this and contemplating a PPI. Any things to watch out for? Questions to ask? Here's the listing. Overpriced?
Is the IMS easier to get at in this version?

Really nice car. Sometime in 2005 Porsche switched to the larger IMS bearing which is more difficult to get to since the engine has to be split. I am not sure of the exact build date or engine serial numbers when this occurred. I have seen this info posted on Rennlist somewhere.

I believe the 997.1 you are referring to has a build date AFTER March 2006.
Even then, a later 997.1 build can still have an IMS failure. Also, cylinder wall scoring is also another big issue with the 997.1 engine.
A 997.2 is the way to go if possible as almost all the 997.1 engine issues were resolved and bore scoring is the only issue you need to watch out for.
A PPI can be done and you can specifically check for scoring at that time.
GOOD LUCK with your search!
