Hi,

I'm getting a noise coming from the rear of the car (2010 c4s). It sounds like 2 squirrels having an argument 😀. The sound is most easily heard when cruising or decelerating, and seems to go away while accelerating.

I replaced the coolant tank, drive belt, and had the rear bumper on and off as well as the airbox. I can’t see how this would be related, but the squeak started this spring and I did that work over the winter while it was in storage. I plan to replace the rear strut mount bushings with something from power flex, but not sure if this will help as I’ve sprayed a generous amount of lithium lube on the mount, spring seat, etc with no effect. On to the video. You’ll need the volume up to hear it.

I am considering purchasing a two-post lift for my garage, which has an 8-foot ceiling. The overall height of the lift (without a car on it lifted to the maximum lift height) is 72" so no problem filling it in my garage. I fully understand the limits on lifting the car up (vis-a-vis lift height capability of the lift versus height of my ceiling) and understand I will not be able to fully lift the car to the lift's height limits. My question concerns stability because this lift purports to be stable (with casters) without having to anchor the two main posts into the concrete. It has an 8,500 lb. capacity which is over twice the weight of my 2009 997.2 C4S. The lift has bolt holes which would allow me to install anchors id I chose to, but I would like to avoid installing piers in my garage floor for adequate anchorage (existing 4" slab thickness is insufficient for good anchoring). I would like opinions from anyone who has any experience with two post lifts purporting to be "portable within the garage" and stable without anchors. The link to the lift is:

I noticed a lot of wind noise on the upper corner of my passenger window, so I decided to adjust it with the adjustment screws accessed through the bottom of the door. After adjusting, the auto drop feature does not work at all. I tried the window recalibration (holding the switch for 10 seconds), but it didn't seem to make any difference.

From my searches, I understand that usually when the auto drop feature is acting up, it's a due to a faulty microswitch. But mine were working great before the adjustment. Any ideas?

Take it as you will. It looks like the 997.1 motors suffer ongoing gradual degradation while the 997.2 suffers from instantaneous failure.

Again, bore score vs cold seizure. What bothers me on the latter is that early on the 9A1 failure was blamed on casting problems but now seems to be a gradual alteration of clearances.

Hello friends, Roman from ACSByRoman.com here. I'm updating our old Mr12Volt threads as there is a lot of new info since we first came onboard with Rennlist. The current thread will reference strictly Mr12Volt P3000 systems. We are doing this to avoid any confusion regarding older systems.

For purchasing discussions please refer to our vendor listing here ***Buy Mr12Volt units here*** or ACSByRoman.com/Porsche or just PM me.

Now that that's behind us lets to the meat of it! I'm here to bring an open discussion and help with any install questions regarding Mr12Volt Carplay and Android Auto systems. This Carplay and Android Auto solution that has been spoken about regularly on these forums, Facebook, and was even included in the Rennlist holiday gift guide!!!

Firstly, the Mr12Volt system is first and only one of its kind in the marketplace. Unlike all others the feed audio through the aux channel, degrading the audio, the Mr12Volt system is ran through the factory MOST25 bus, the fiber optic audio channel that's standard in our cars. Through the MOST25 bus Mr12Volt provides DAP (Digital Audio Processing) to maintain your vehicles clear and superior audio quality while offering to upgrade the factory PCM with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto capability. Additionally you will maintain all camera systems currently in your vehicle while allowing for future upgrades for additional cameras in the front, rear, and side (360 birds eye view).
Other features include

Independent navi, media, and mic volume controls

Factory mic integration

Enhanced Bluetooth phone call clarity

Mirror Link - Phone screen mirrored on your screen. This includes vertical and panoramic orientations.

15 bar DSP equalizer

Support for aftermarket cameras up to 1080p

USB video and music playback

Dynamic parking sensors

Steering wheel functionality

No loss of factory navigational maps in the gauge cluster

Compatibility with Base, Bose, and Burmester audio systems

The system fits in the following cars

Pcm 3.0

911 2009 - 2011

Cayenne 2009

Boxster/Cayman 2009-2012

Broken Subframe Due to (Potentially) Defective Front Lower Control Arm

I have been in the midst of a full front-end suspension refresh and used Pelican Part's "Meyle" front control arm kit...

I have been in the midst of a full front-end suspension refresh and used Pelican Part's "Meyle" front control arm kit (https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_In...AKIT-997-987-A). I say "Meyle" because the coffin arms are actually from Hamburg Technic, which would be no big deal if HT parts weren't a bit suspect.

In any case, as I was tightening down the bolt that connects the control arm bushing to the subframe on the driver's side, I heard a CRACK before 89 ft*bls. I thought this was just something settling in - stupid me - and torqued it down to what Porsche asks for. When I got the car on the road I could hear this squeaking over bumps from that front left side but thought it was my sway bar bushings. I went to grease them today and my heart just dropped to my stomach when i saw this:

 </picture>

I've had a look around online and apparently sometimes the bushing can be a bit too small for the subframe; mine fit in tight but it wasn't a 'tolerance fit' if that makes sense. I didn't have to use a mallet to lightly tap it in.

I think I'm going to need a new subframe. Is this an easy fix? I'd DIY it as I did the rest of the suspension, but I'm at school 40 miles away from my buddy's garage and obviously my 997 can't drive anymore.

I gave Pelican Parts a call this morning about this, but apparently their system is down so they'll be getting back to me later. Gave Hamburg Technic a call too, but they just directed me back to Pelican.

Hey guys, I have noticed my car has a slight lumpy idle recently which I think has got slightly more noticeable. I was wondering what it could be so whilst it was having a geo check i had my indie do a diagnostic check on it which came back as "P0421 warm up Primary Catalyic Bank 2 Inadequate Effect 997.2".

There car otherwise performs well and has just passed its MOT (I am UK based) on emissions etc.

Do you think the lumpy idle and the code can be related? Is there anything you think I should do to try and fix the code first to see if it changes the lumpy idle.

The lumpy idle is only very slight and most people don't notice it.

Many thanks

I was replacing the vacuum line in front of the alternator since it has a crack. I was careful while taking the grey locking clip out on the top left side. However while inserting it back on, the small thingie fell and I don't think there is any chance I can find it.

Does anyone know the replacement part number of where I can find it? I can't be the only one who has dropped/lost it!!

Thanks in advance
