SAN DIEGO CHAPTER BMW CCA DRIVING SCHOOL

* Saturday, March 17 and Sunday, March 18, at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway (www.chuckwallavalleyraceway.com).
* Chuckwalla Valley Raceway is only three hours from San Diego, Los Angeles, or Phoenix.
* The track is 4.5 miles North of Interstate 10 at the Rice Roar/Desert Center exit.
* The school is open to all levels of drivers – from first-timers to experienced drivers.
* We will drive the track in a counter-clockwise direction.
* It has some complex combinations, is not too intimidating, is very safe, and is long enough to keep you busy.
* This is an excellent school track!

* This is a driving skills improvement school, held under close supervision by trained instructors. Our intention is to teach students how to drive their everyday car better. For that reason, we encourage you to bring the car you drive most frequently with the standard equipment, so you can feel how it will reach in different situations. See the "Pre-Reg Requirements" for a list of vehicles not allowed.
* We use a racetrack to provide a safe, controlled environment. This is not a racing school. Emphasis will be on safe, smooth, controlled driving. At no time will you be pressed to go any faster than you are comfortable. Participants will be grouped according to experience and, to some degree, model of automobile. If the instructor feels you are in the wrong group, you will be moved. "First timers" are usually classified as novices.
* Registration has opened on MotorsportReg as of January 11th! Our school is only $425.00 if you register prior to March 1st. If you register after this date, the cost is $475.00. If you decide to opt out of our traditional Saturday night banquet/raffle, your pre-March 1st registration cost would only be $400!

* The fee is only $425 if you register prior to March 1st. As another incentive to register before March 1st, our friends at the Clarion Hotel have extended their special pricing to coincide with this date as well. The pricing per night is $69.00 +tax. There is alternative lodging next door at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino at $129.00 per night +tax.
* The Clarion will be our event headquarters. We will offer light appetizers at our event registration mixer on Friday night, March 16th, from 6:00-8:00 pm in Conference Room B overlooking the hotel pool. Please bring your SNELL 2005 rated or newer helmet to get signed off during the registration process and your Tech Sheet, .
The Clarion will be our event headquarters and we will offer light appetizers at our event registration mixer on Friday night from 6:00-8:00pm in the hotel lobby overlooking the pool. Please bring your SNELL 2005 rated or newer helmet to get signed off during the registration process.
* Saturday morning starting at 5:30am there will be a light breakfast available in the lobby area and we’ll all want to be at the track by 7:00am to get ready for our drivers meeting followed by our scheduled on-track and classroom activities. There is a full suite of gas available on-site, including diesel. Keep an eye on your tank level prior to leaving the track for the day as the nearest gas station heading westbound to the hotel is about 20 miles. This year there will be permanent bathroom facilities and other new improvements including semi-permanent classrooms that will make our experience even better.

* Please note that we have negotiated a reduced rate that the track will charge every person entering the premises to $15.00 per person for both days. You will have to pay this entrance fee separately upon initial entry on Saturday morning. The good news is that there is a great BBQ venue at the track and we will be organizing some great lunches for you both days that is part of your registration fee. Please find details on purchasing additional lunch and raffle dinner costs on MotorsportReg.
* On Saturday night, we encourage everyone to join us for our traditional dinner/raffle that is always one of the highlights of the weekend. It is a great time to swap stories about almost swapping ends and reveling in the camaraderie we all share. For those of you that experienced the fiasco of last year’s dinner, I am working on an alternate location that is a few miles away. I will have this ironed out in the next week or so.
* Please note that there is gas available on-site. Keep an eye on your tank level prior to leaving the track for the day as the nearest gas station heading westbound to the hotel is about 20 miles.
