does porsche provide free winter tires for March EU deiivery or im day dreaming
Basically title, i have read several posts, got conflict information. I thought Porsche would provide free winter tires between Nov - March.
Plan to drive from Leipzig to Milan and cross Alps, I'm worried RWD+ Summer tires in GT3 would cause me some trouble.
pls, dont tell me there is an insurance so im covered : )
Thank you!

They're happy to provide you with winter tires, but you are renting them from them. If you do opt for them, then the car must be returned to the place it was delivered. Below is what was included in my ED order form back in August for Delivery I did last month:
If you can avoid winter tires (fudge delivery date and push out to April, avoid the snow, or take other precautions), I would. You can't get anywhere near top speed on the Autobahn on winters and they will feel floaty and weird above 125 ish MPH, though modern versions should happily do 155. I did an October 30th delivery and avoided them. We did change our route to avoid Switzerland and I also brought a set of AutoSocks (basically fabric tire condoms which work amazingly well and are legal as "traction devices") just in case. Top tip...if you go the AutoSock route, make sure you have a long plastic (metal could scratch paint) ruler and some gloves. Your hands wont fit on top of the tire to install the AutoSocks, so you fold them backwards over the plastic ruler and then slide that over the top of the tire.

thanks, those information are really helpful.
My car will exist production in early Dec, they cannot hold my car for more than March.
Maybe i could try another route to southern France instead
wow interesting, is your a car a 911? and when did you do this EU delivery?
@DCYT Assuming you're doing Leipzig, did your ED cost $3000 or $2500...wondering if the free winters are part of the new pricing. If not, could be a 911 freebie vs. a 718.
@Fugly M3 and @undefinederror , it's a 911 T with delivery in Leipzig for mid December.
ED was $3000 CDN for me ... so around $21xx USD.
thanks; mine is $3000 dollars and Leipzig; I did once in Leipzig for 992.1 GTS, was free...
I wanted to do Zuf delivery, but I cannot really reason for $6000...
If you drive in Germany and it starts to snow and you don't have winter tires, you will get ticketed. I picked up my 992.1 GTS in late October 23 and opted for winter tires since I was driving into the Alps. The tires they give you are rated for high speed. I don't recall which ones I got but they were fine well over 200kmh on the Autobahn.
Basically, what @Ikone says. I picked up this year October 28 and specifically avoided winters because I was heading south, had the tire condoms with me, and routed around even the potential for snow. I wanted the performance of summers for the Ring and the Autobahn. The OE spec winters will be V rated (149 mph) and on 992s they come in factory 20/21 sizes. On the 718s they're a downsize at 19s. If you're not looking to try to get past 150 mph, then they're fine, especially if you're delivering in peak winter. One thing I'll say on winters, as Sixt has moved their whole rental fleet to year-round winters in Germany, is that they're quite good now. They do start to "float" at around 120 mph, but they then sit right back down above about 135 mph bc the car is being pushed down by so much air. If you're not looking to "push it" in your new car and want to be safe rather than sorry, they're a good bet. Also, as you're getting a GT3, the non-winters are going to be Cup 2s, right? We're talking bricks in the cold there...so, probably winters.

I opted out the winter tire. My delivery date was Oct 28 as well, and definitely missed you @Fugly M3 . I believe the ring does not allow winter tires so I took a chance with P zero. When I passed the Gotthard pass on 11/2, it was crazy downpour which they closed the pass. When I returned on 11/13, the most passes are closed due to Winter, but I was still able to go through Brenner pass and Fern pass. I had stuck behind slow traffic most of the time, only got 3 and 4 time chances to opened it up .

Were you an afternoon delivery? Wow...just missed each other. You could have joined the dinner group we had in Stuttgart as a follow-up. Also, there was an Oak Green w gold wheels GT3 in the morning! We did Brenner and it was boring with traffic. Then went to the lesser known Penser Joch and it was wonderful...nobody. Except the diesel Touareg charing down the south side through the fog...we let him go.

No, I had morning 8:30 delivery, spend a lot of time on the track with a silver gt3.
