If you pass Mulhouse then this Museum is worth a visit.....

Also Colmar is a beautiful little French town, well worth a stop off for lunch and a walk around this historic middle.

Not to derail, but have you used Capital One (Venture X) travel portal? I found it's hit or miss with the 'refundable' bookings. Wondering if Chase is better from that perspective?

Yes, I have booked and cancelled a few during the trip planning iterations via Expedia and Amex FHR.
The only thing I can't cancel are the flights ..... but going in winter forces me to arrive and depart from Leipzig.

Side note .... If anyone is interested or a first time 911 owner, I went to test fit luggages at the dealer in preparation for my trip.

The frunk can fit 2 carry on luggages with a laptop bag on the side and a jacket on top or a mid size luggage with a jacket on top.

The cabin back seat can hold a carry on luggage or mid size luggage places upside down; my kid will be sitting on the other seat in the back.

The shelf behind the backseats can hold a carry on luggage and a backpack or a large soft bag.

All in all, I can bring 3 carry on + mid size luggage, backpack and a medium soft bag.

I didn't think the 911 can carry so much stuff!

Change of plans ..... Might head down to Monaco with this route: https://maps.app.goo.gl/Kak3CTq96tKCQm1W8

Anyone foresee any issues other than LOTS of Driving?

I made sure to stay far away from Monaco. Not my cup of tea.
Other than that some cool driving north of Nice.

Another great route!

I mentioned Grindelwald for your last routing. This time, I'll mention an even better town - Zermatt, at the base of the Matterhorn. Magic at Christmastime. No cars allowed in the town. You park in a very safe garage and take a 10-minute train into the village. The last time I was in Zermatt was for a BMW ED with a similar routing as you on my way to the south of France (although you'll pass to the west, rather than the east of Milan). btw, I happen to love Monoco and think it's a must-see place. And make your way to nearby Èze in the mountains above Monaco. Great driving and beautiful scenery. And all the towns along the coast, like Cannes and Saint-Tropez are exactly what you think they'll be. Great time of year to be there.

@DCYT I like that one...Como had some floods. We're doing Lugano (always were), but Como is worth seeing. If you've seen the clarity of Tahoe or Crater Lake, you won't understand the fuss of Como. From Como, I'd say maybe swing around Turin and wind down into Monaco (French D6204 to D2204 to D2566A), then do Riviera heading back east...will put you on sea-side of the road, albeit not driver's side.

Edit: Made a map for you. I'd always prefer not driving the same road twice...hence the changes. I've done Fernpass I think on my last ED with BMW driving from the Welt to overnight in Pfunds Austria. Enjoyable countryside for sure.

I would definitely hit some of the Cols and part of Route Napoleon north of Nice. Some of the best driving roads.

Thanks for the new recommendations, much appreciated!
@Fugly M3 , I am going to Lake Louise up in Banff this week, hope it won't ruin Lake Como for me .... I've been to Como back in 2014 .... I recall it was beautiful.
@hinckley , Grindelwald and Zermatt looks great! Unfortunately, I only have 10 days and I need to trek back to Leipzig to return the car ....

I am trying to figure out everything so I don't do more than 4 hours of driving a day

In reality, Leipzig -> Nice -> Leipzig route is a 15 day trip .....

I was at Como in 2014. I agree it was beautiful but it's more the architecture/towns/scenery not as much the lake clarity, natural surroundings. 4 hours a day is an ambitious target. We have some 7 hour days on my upcoming trip...one will probably be 8. I may make the day from Monaco to Saint-Cyprien closer to 7 instead of 6 to stop at the good croissant place in Nice in the am!

That's perfect! That's the exact route I'd take if I was doing ED. Maybe stretch it out longer and drive to Venice!
