Is this a bad time to buy a 911?
Hello from Chicago !! I've been in the market for a CPO 991.2 4S for a month now and based on my interaction with a couple of dealers it seems like my budget is off by about $10k. My budget is $100k but the cars I end up liking are about $110k. And so far the dealers have shown ZERO desire to bring the price down at all. I offered $102k for a $107k listing and did not even receive a counter.
My question is this - given that the 992 models are going to hit the market in 2-3 months(let me know if this is wrong) am I better off just waiting for a bit. Do you guys expect the price of 991.2 models to drop once the 992 models hit the market?
Any advice/input would be really appreciated. Cheers.

Thanks Sleepy996. Appreciate the response. Since I am already off by about $10k I am just curios to know what impact will the 992 release have on the 991.2 price? Should I start looking at 2016 models or will being patient for about 3-4 months save me some major money?

Asset Bubble
Interestingly, I have been in the market for the same CPO model and after months of looking around have found nothing but overpriced cars.
I have made most of my money buying assets (mostly real estate) during recessions and it seems the same can be applied to the used Porsche market.
You might want to consider something less sought after like a new 718 Cayman S that can be had for 15% off sticker and use it until the next inevitable recession when a ton of 911s will hit the used market as people prioritize their mortgage over their toys.

This was my first Porsche purchase this week. I can relate to your inquiry. I decide on a 991, but my situation differs lil as I'm after the Turbo S models. I'm told 2 years to get a 992 Turbo S now..
So I grab the first great shape 991.1 Turbo S I could find in my price range!
One thing to also consider is the cost of insurance and maintenance on these was quite bit higher then I initially anticipated. So consider example 80k car financed.. $1200 month plus $200 insurance versus similar model 992 $2200 plus $300 month. It will be a big step. Not to mention most dealer charging overages to current 992 inventory as well, not just MSRP anymore in my area in Denver.
I would recommend 991 BUT get one the is CPO and then put in a order for a new one which you might find out could be 2 years and then you have the option to trade in! Depreciation was a factor in my decision as well and realized the 2015 I bought at spec'd was $195 and bought at $135, so depreciated each year at $10k, that's 60k.
