This thread seems to have died off, so I'll revive it. Relatively new owner here -- bought my Atlas gray '06 Carrera 4 cab in SC last March. I've browsed rennlist forums from time to time and finally joined.
I've used both Chapman and Intersport. Taylor Chapman is down-to-earth, very knowledgeable, and runs a great shop -- he'd be my top recommendation of the two. Intersport, however, being near Metro is a whole lot more convenient. Also, on a recent job they did for me, they were able to get the aftermarket warranty that transferred to my car to foot nearly half the bill. Never tried that with Chapman because of the type of work needed, so can't comment on how they would follow through with a warranty company.
Do any members have experiences with aftermarket entertainment/communication (Bluetooth, etc.)systems to replace the 997.1 PCM system, and a local shop to do a professional installation.

Hi All,
I have been a Porsche owner in the region for over 8 years, and if there is one place I would recommend with my eyes closed it is IMA Motorwerk, in Chantilly, they have been servicing my 87, 911, my 944 na and now my 944 turbo andial stroker, and they are great! Ivan the owner is very honest and tends to fix before exchanging part! I have recommended them to a lot of my friends and they keep going there even with none Porsche cars!
If you want to give them a call you can always ask for Ivan and tell him Frenchie recommended you, and you will for sure be well taken care of.

I'm seeing some recommendations for local DMV area shops (aside from dealerships) - how about who to buy from? I'm really antsy to trade up to a 997.1TT from my 991 C2. - any thoughts? There are a few local and better options if I'm willing to gamble and widen the search area.

For a 997.1TT I'd go wide. Finding an unmolested one has gotten tough and folks are always on the hunt so well worth looking wide and shipping or doing a drive back for the right one.

Thanks - I'm at the point where I agree with you. I'm skeptical about cars for sale over 200 days - is it the price or the condition.
