Default Any NJ traffic court experts here?

I got nailed for unregistered and uninspected. A little oversight on my part...

The officer told me the uninspected fine is often "knocked down to just court fees if you show you've had the car inspected."

Anyone have experience with this? I know what you say and when in court is very important, and there are no points to warrant representation.

thanks!

get the car inspected and registered, go to court, show the judge(or judge assistant) the paperwork, they'll probably have you pay a fine, but that's it.

not really much that you can do. being honest and saying it just slipped your mind won't hurt you either when explaining why your car was passed it's dates

If they didn't tow the car straight out you caught a break. . .

no it'd usually only get towed if you are a suspended driver, the car as long as it's insured and your licensed will remain in your possession

Not around here; if it's not registered it goes on the hook. Next town over they yanked a mom and her kids out of the minivan and called them a cab.

here also....they tow it,

Just another revenue source for the impound yard which is associated with the municipality. Plus they only accept cash at the impound lot and charge you by the day..total BS

Thanks...I hadn't checked on this since I posted.

They did impound the car...this was the Port Authority Police, checking inspection dates right as you merge into the Holland Tunnel. Thankfully, impounding the car meant they just drove it 50 feet into a lot.

I took a cab to MVS a few miles away and had it all straightened out and was driving my car within 2 hours.

I think I'll just pay the fine...together they are about $190 or so, and there was no charge for the impound.
