For the Broward guys there is a T-Pike service plaza just south of Hallandale. I'll look it up and post the precise location.

Here you go - I'd vote for the Snapper Creek one as it is closer to the Keys:

Snapper Creek—Miami-Dade County (Milepost 19) Burger King and a Convenience store
Pompano Service Plaza—Broward County (Milepost 65) Starbucks, Popeyes, and Sbarro's

There is a Turnpike Service Center in Pompano Beach (just south of Atlantic). That might be easy for the people coming from the North and it is in Central Broward. I know there are a few people coming from Weston though. Is there any place just South of 595 on the Turnpike that we could all meet?

It sounds great...just a matter of setting the "meeting time" for both locations...

I agree with Pedro. The Northern folks can meet at the Pompano Service Plaza say an hour before we are all supposed to meet at Snapper Creek. I know I know - it is only 45 miles, but I am taking into consideration toll plazas, FHP, and the inevitable fact that we won't leave Pompano on time!

so,..... what are the meeting times?

By the way, in case there's any interest, later that same day - at 7pm (ok, so it's that night) the Gold Coast Chapter of PCA is hosting a dinner cruise in Fort Lauderdale on the Jungle Queen. Yes, it's a cheesy tourist attraction, but with a good group, it's fun.

According to Rico's original plan:

"We have set up the 3rd annual Key Largo Run to the Mariott on Florida Bay for
Saturday, November 11, 2006. The plan is to leave Fort Lauderdale or Miami
at 8 AM. The meeting point wiil be determined soon."

My suggestion would be 8AM for the Pompano Service Plaza and 9AM for the Snapper Creek folks...

Hey Rico...are you driving the 1972???

I received a few PM's today also regarding the Lauderdale meeting points.
Here the two most popular choices:

Flamingo Rd & I-595.
-------------------------
This is a gathering spot we have meet at on past drives.
There is a Mobil station with ample parking in the NE corner.
They have pretty good cafe'.

Turnpike exit 47 (University dr / 27 ave) Miramar
-----------------------------------------------
There is another Mobil station with ample parking. Yes, you have to get off the
turnpike, but this station is directly in front of the on/off ramp (easy off / easy back on)

We have a tenative resvervation at the Mariott breakfast buffett at 10:30 am.
It closes out at 11am for lunch.

it would be benefical for the Lauderdale group to meet at 8am at whichever the final location is,
wait for late members and depart at 8:15am.

Meet up with the Miami group at Snapper Creek Service (MM19) plaza at 8:30AM.
Then we all depart at 8:45am for Key Largo.

Pedro,
Can you be our Miami meeting point contact?
Also, I'm preparing the 996 for the trip. The 911 will be taking a break for a month.
