If the weather holds out, I’ll probably be doing an early AM run from Franklin Lakes -> Bear Mt

I try to be on the road by 7 and back home before your average 4th of July parkgoer makes it there. Perks of living in Northern NJ

Any interest in an early Sunday (7/16) run? I don’t know the Hunterdon roads but enjoyed a run when this thread first started a couple years ago from 202 out toward Frenchtown and back.

Ryan Friedman has a cars & coffee event this Sunday. While not a “fun” ride to LI per se, it’s an excuse to get out and see some cool cars. Anyone else from NJ interested in going? Maybe we get a Jersey group and drive together?

That was my cruise. Sunday is a maybe for me; afternoon would work better but it's obviously weather-dependent.

And not a chance I'd waste a Sunday morning driving through/around/near NYC.

Also: be aware US-6 and NY-9W and Palisades are all closed near Bear Mountain and Storm King due to the flash flooding on Sunday.

One of my favorite stretches of road is Route 29 between Lambertville and Frenchtown. It's only 25 mph at the very ends of that stretch. But the middle is 45 or 50 and is typically lightly travelled especially early Saturday/Sunday mornings. And there are ample passing zones with a couple fun curves. It's also decently, albeit not perfectly, paved with river views - kind of a nice atmospheric drive early in the morning.

I'm between fun cars, having traded my 991.2 GTS for a 992 GT3 which enters production next week (if it remains on schedule). But once it arrives, I will be game for early morning runs throughout northwestern NJ. I'll check back with the thread.

Did you take Route 12W from 202 to get to Frenchtown? 12 is a well paved and relaxing road, although not ideal for extralegal speeds due to the state police barracks there. But I take it frequently and then head south on 29.

Or, sometimes, if coming from the east, I'll take Amwell Road (which can be great fun when there's no slow-moving traffic) to Old York Road to Route 179W to Lambertville and then north on 29 to Frenchtown.

Be careful on 29 on the weekends. NJSP and Delaware Twp PD like to head there as they know we are there.

True, I see them often close to the two towns (Lambertville and Frenchtown) in the 25 and 30 mph areas. I keep to the speed limit in those areas anyway because it’s residential. But in the middle part between the towns, I rarely see them and when I do they’re cruising and not sitting hidden. In any event, it’s a pleasant drive even at normal speeds.

It’s a given that most roads in NJ that are attractive to sports-car owners are going to have a stronger than average police presence. Goes with the territory I guess.
