Installing new video card to run monitors 2 & 3 as we speak
Don't forget to measure the monitor angles and the distance to your eyeball, use the FOV calculator built in to the sim, and have "render each screen separately" checked.
Off topic, but does anyone know if its possible to run triple screen off a laptop? Im running Iracing currently off a Dell Studio XPS laptop. only thing i know about this laptop is the stickers on it. (intel i7)....
I need some 3 monitor help too.
I just got the video card and power supply installed. I have the three monitors running ok, but I'm not happy with the car view. I've been playing with the Options/Graphics in iRacing. Whole car needs to swing to the left a little as the drivers mirror is near the screen split and the passenger one is almost out of view. I've been playing with screen sizes and distance but it only moves the car up and back, but doesn't rotate at all.
The way I think about the 3 monitors is to pretend they are windows into another world. From your seating position in the real car what would you actually see if you had those window frames to move around? The closer you are to the window, the bigger your field of view. That means get the monitors as close to you as you can. I can't see much of the gauges in my 3 screen setup. I also can't see the passenger side mirror. The center and right screen are almost all windshield. The left screen has a bit of windshield, pillar, side mirror and a lot of window net. One trick I used is to match the onscreen wheel with your physical wheel.
I'll post a screen shot next time I'm on of what I actually see when I'm racing.

Set up the screens in the too right of the graphics page
The view u get is what u get
Unless u move the screens
They r windows into the iracing world
Biggest mistake out there is changing it to what u WANT to see
That's a strategy that I've used a few times too. Sometimes pressuring and battling is more costly than just chilling out. If you back off a bit and let the guy in front drive out the windshield instead of the mirrors both people can go faster and build a gap to the group behind. Ted took the defensive line up the front straight when I was behind him. The first time he did it, I stayed wide and put the pressure on him which caused us both to have to check up into T1 as I couldn't apex and he couldn't set up. That let Tony get REAL close through T2,T3. Second time through, he went defensive, but I pulled in behind him and we both were able to go full speed through T1.
I find the game theory/prisoner's dilemma fascinating and how the changing situation changes the optimum strategy.
The situation with Jim and Julian was similar in that when Jim and I decided to compete, Julian profited. Jim eased up a bit and I could run faster to catch Julian which in turn also pulled Jim up with me. It's a shame Julian spun as it certainly would have ended up with another 3-way battle for the lead.
I was watching you guys battle, just trying to keep in 1-2 seconds, when you were both slow out of T2, I had a great run, got in the draft then 3 wide. Wasn't sure I could make the corner, and thought you might get the over under back on me.Was too quick to the throttle lost traction, stupid mistake, limped to the pits for repair, came back out in 10th, enough laps to get to 7th.
Was fun while it lasted
