Was there a reason to leave the seat bottoms in place ?? I am thinking about pulling the seat bottoms out and just having a carpeted area or installing some sort of tray as the base instead of the seat.
good article - thanks

Gus ^^ You could ask RLer Howdy993:
5.5 years later, Howard's still posting on RL.

Glad to see curvelover has put it all back together.
No worries, Howard ^^
A RLer brought it to my attention that images #9 & 10 currently aren't loading.

I dusted off my computer & found them to re-upload:

Once all the bolts have been removed, you will need to carefully cut the carpeting and fill padding to remove the Rear Seat frame.

In the front section there is a large amount of foam that is attached to the metal frame yoke.

Separate this foam from the frame carefully, then remove the frame.

Try to preplan your carpet cuts in advance.

I had not made X cuts on the front bolts, so this may have resulted in more carpet cutting than was necessary.

Glad to see curvelover has done the legwork to put it all back together.

Best wishes, Howard
Hi Howard, when you’d fitted the RSD kit did you notice and difference in road noise or engine noise? The reason I ask is the RSD shelf is the ideal way to block some of the low frequency engine noise. Also I’m curious to if the rear seat uprights block noise and if there’s a noticeable difference when removed.
I suffer with tinnitus and so have to attempt to reduce the low frequency noise - mostly idle drone in the 993. A custom RSD made from ply with a layer of MDF if sealed well to the body and with no doors would block quite a bit of low frequency noise due to the reasonable air volume.
