Default 991.2 Repair of Broken Exhaust Tip Clamps

One of my exhaust tips appeared to be loose and, when I checked, found that both of the clamps were broken. It looks like the bolts had seized and someone had tried to wrench them off. The design is poor, all parts are stainless apart from the bolt and threaded part, and for a few pence more all could have been stainless. Also, the car has only been serviced at the same main dealer and whoever did it must have known. I have seen other posts where this has happened but no repair details so I am adding this for information. I sourced two Jubilee heavy duty stainless steel clamps with a range of 68mm to 73mm to fit my exhaust which has a diameter of 70mm.

I then used a Dremel to cut the single attachment weld and cleaned the remaining weld off.

Total cost of the repair £22 and 1 hour of my time.

I trust that this is of help to others.
