964 Carpet Install - Installation Sequence
- Over rear wheels left and right (1a and 1b)
- Along door to front left and right (2a and 2b)
- Front center. Cut in half and install either side separately (3)
- Front floor left and right. These do NOT glue in (4a and 4b)
- Back center. This is the hardest part if you changed sound insulation (5)
- Back behind rear seats (6)
- Lower back seat to floor left and right (7a and 7b)
- Rear floor (8a and 8b)
The remaining pieces are not sequence critical
- Door pockets left and right (9a and 9b)
- Small panel driver's side (10)
- Pedal cluster not glued (11)
- Small piece front center console. These are actually 2 small pieces (12)
- Small panel passenger side (13)
There are three pieces in the diagram that do not apply to a C2 Targa (n/a)
A couple of lessons learned:
- The original sound insulation is thicker in some places than modern material. That may require some trimming of the new carpet set and impact fit.
- I used the old pieces to cut holes where needed for seat belt bolts etc.
- It is easy to loose track of holes and they are hard to find once glued over
Overall a time consuming project but not hard if you work methodically and think ahead. Hope this helps.
