Post Bleeding Clutch Hydraulic System: Method #1

Hello All!
I just replaced my timing belt. In the process, removed the clutch slave cyclinder along with the fluid line that connects to it in order to lock the flywheel. After putting everything back together, my clutch pedal drops all the way down to the floor. I know I probably need to bleed the clutch lines, but my question is: can I bleed it from the slave bleed valve?, or must I do it from the master?? Thanks...

bleeding a clutch can be areal pain on some cars. you can sometimes do a gravity bleed, open the bleeder on the slave and keep the fluid full till it drips, close vale. then have sombody push the pedal to the floor and open the bleeder. this is to try to get out any trapped air. close the bleeder and pull up the pedal and repeat. next a pressure bleeder. either from top or from bottom you connect the bleeder with adaptors and let it bleed. i have used a new oil can as a pressure bleeder in the past. take a new virgin oil can and fill it with brke fluid and connect a hose from can to slave bleeder valve, open bleeder and pump fluid through sytem. good luck

Joel,
Thanks! This is exactly the info. I was looking for. I think I'm gonna try the pump fluid into the slave and force the air to the top method.

I'll post the results.

Thanks again.

Got it working!
Did the oil can hooked to the open slave cylinder bleed valve trick. Took the lid off the brake master cylinder and pumped until it overflowed. Seemed to do the trick.

Thanks for this forum!!!
