Default What cable or connector do I need - Rosso and SmartyHD

I bought the Rosso Intercom IC-200 communicator and want to connect it to my SmartyCamHD so that the audio from the Rosso feeds the Smarty.
I already have the AIM external mic y-cable.
Can Pete/Matt/Jerry (or others) tell me what I need? Pretty sue its a 3.3mm female into the camera cable and I can bring the Rosso to the store but would like to know what to ask for.
I hope to source it before I leave for Tremblant Sunday and likely need to go to BestBuy rather than buy it online.
Thanks in advance. I really like the Rosso.

You need to convert the line level output of the Rosso to a condensor mic level input.
I have a thread here showing how and the saga to get there. You will need some Shure pro-audio parts. I can't guarantee you won't have engine noise as I've not tested with a Rosso. Likely ok on battery power.

Ah, had no idea I needed anything but a connector - and I have even posted on your thread!
Guess I have some learning to do...
The I/O-Port device for use with the Chatterbox was so simple.

I ultimately want to do the same thing (Stilo or Rosso intercom to SCHD), but will mix it in with other audio using the Zoom. The Zoom will isolate a good deal of ground associated engine noise.

I think the Longacre already has a condensor mic 'output' so much easier connection.

Rick - you have the IO Port device, right? I would talk to them and see if they can change the connectors to match what you have now (IMSA or Stilo?) and then it might all work.

How about some feedback to AIM to provide a Line Level input!

You should be able to use a Stilo to chatterbox (or whatever you have) adapter on the IO. I did that, because IO wanted a bit too much to send it in and change my existing set up.

Good idea (or get an adapter as was mentioned elsewhere.).
I had thought my I/O-Port interface was going to need a new home, but seems like I still need it.
Which is not bad as I think it is a very good solution.
I'll check in with Ken.

Rick, sorry for sending you in the wrong direction - I had no idea of this issue with the SC.

No worries
I like the communicator a lot. Highly recommended
Feeding the SC is only a once in a while use (mostly when riding with a pro)

Further research reveals that the Rosso audio out to the camera is a female RCA jack. The I/O-Port (Longacre) interface has a 1/8" (3.5mm) 3-conductor microphone output, so with luck all I need is an adapter. Male RCA to female 3.5mm

I'm a little confused.
It sounds like you are trying to go from an output of the Rosso to an output of the I/O port. Output to output will not work.

The I/O port device has a microphone level output (1/8"/3.5mm) phono plug which should work directly into the smartycamHD ext. mic cable Input.

However, the I/O port INPUT is from a chatterbox connector. I don't think you can adapt the chatterbox connector as an input to a line level RCA output from the Rosso.

What I was suggesting above is going from the Rosso line level output to the SCHD mic input using appropriate adapters as described above.

Am I missing something? Does the I/O port device have a line level input in addition to the chatterbox input?

Hi DB
Still sorting it out, but yes the I/o device has the line level capability.
Since it usually takes the Chatterbox output and splits it to the student and the camera (if I recall correctly), my thoughts is to take the Rosso camera audio output into the I/O-Port then out to the camera.
You are way more knowledgeable about this than I am so I may be way off base.
Probably I should contact Rosso and ask them what to do.
I am open to suggestions.

You would need a line level input on the I/O port which I don't think it has.
Check with I/O Port. The output side of the I/O port is fine - it goes right to the SCHD.

The input side of the I/O port needs to accept a line level input from the Rosso. This is the capability I don't think the I/O Port device has, but I could be wrong. It is designed for Chatterbox on the input side. Now, you may be able to tie-in to that chatterbox input with some adapters - that's where I/O Port can help out.

Looks like it does have a line level input capability:
Our interface will allow you to capture the communications made on your ChatterBox with the in-car camera. A level control allows you to adjust the volume for the right mix to your camera
I also have a message in to Rosso asking the basic question of how to feed the SmartyCam from the Intercom.
