AiM hardware going crazy
It was quite the day today ...
First 2 sessions, all went well (except for the EVO4 GPS which is completely fubar, but that I knew so I was running with an IR beacon).
Then the Smartycam HD rev2.1 started acting up.
Upon seeing this I tried the usual suspects: took another SD card. Reformatted it (can you manually force a format in the Smartycam itself? Didn't find it).
Then I decided to manually record some video to see what happened. So I popped the card in, pressed on record and behold.... the camera was scorching hot (impossible to keep your hand on the housing), it started recording for a couple of seconds and then it rebooted. After a couple of seconds it rebooted again etc. etc.
I turned it off and after a while it started working normally again.
So far so good, until after a while my MXL dash just froze
This is with the engine shut off.

the multiple zero byte video is EXACTLY what my smarty cam did last weekend.
I did all the updates, firmware, newly formatted SD card and it still did the same thing thoughout the weekend. didnt notice the unit was warm or hot though. it may have been since it was in the 90s.
Hopefully one of the data gurus here has a solution.........
