Default Position sensors

Hi All,

Santa was early this year and I got a set of these:

Where is the best place to mount them in the front of a 996 GT3?

Thanks

Ray

It is best to mount them on the shock body so the movement is measuring the movement and you don't need a "motion ratio" factor. I've taken hose clamps and dremel a hole the size of the bolt needed for the pot, 4 or 5 mm, and mount to the shock tube on the rear. The other end is mounted to a bracket you fabricate to mount to the chassis near the top of the shock. I think I was able to drill a hole in the lip of the rear upper shock mount and bolt to that. You need to make sure that the pot is not at the end of it's stroke when the wheel is in full droop.

The problem with that is in the front the twisting motion of the shock will elongate or shorten the sensor from turning the wheel - am I missing something here?

You are correct, I forgot, I made a bracket to attach to the front lower control arm on a 996 Cup.

Here is an old thread that has some photos https://rennlist.com/forums/porsche-...-advice-2.html

I think you'll find it's much easier to go from the tub to the control arm than along the shock. The match channel part is easy.
