Default MXL2 Installation Suggestions/Pictures in an early 911

With temperatures finally getting back to reasonable levels, I plan to install my MXL2 in Tweety Bird - a 1968/1973 911S (see my avatar). This is a PCA Club Racer in E running as a Prepared car.

I'm curious to hear suggestions/see pictures of any MXL2 installations in early 911's. I presume I will need some sort of mount similar to what was used in my Cup (thanks Jerry Austin!). I'd just like to see some suggestions if you guys have any. ViperBob, I know you put my old MXL into a 911. Got any pics?

Appreciate any and all suggestions folks!

First one is an early 911 on a bracket connected to the steering column. Second one is my 914 with a dash replacement. The carbon fiber replaces the original gauge pod and the dash attaches to that.

Thanks Matt. What does that bracket look like on the 911 installation? Where are you attaching it on the steering column? really appreciate the pictures!

I won't be with that car for a little bit. The brackets are usually just a basic "L" shaped bracket that screws or clamps to the steering column. I'm sure Jerry can send you a picture of what he did in his 911 too.

Yeah, I have the metal bracket that my old MXL was mounted to from my Cup. I can use that as a pattern. Just curious where is was bolted on at the steering column. One the Cup, there were four tabs on the turn signal/wiper stalks that I could use. Can't recall if there is something similar on the 911. Thanks all for the info.

On the 911 the steering column cover is a clamshell design. Remove the top portion, attach the bracket to it using small bolts and nuts then reattach the top potion.
