Default Smarty Cam vs Race Render

I am finalizing my decision on a new AIM System, i am probably going with the MXL2. I already have a Replay XD and then one thing i do love about my traqmate system is the ease of placing the data onto a video.

That being said, is racerender easy enough to do between rounds at the track, are there limits on the data it can place on the video. Is the smarty cam easier and worth its price tag?

Thanks in advance for any experiences you may have had

This is my first year w/ the SCHD. Previously I used a gopro and would use racerender at home to combine video and data.

The SCHD great to be able to pull the card and have all of the data on the video, all the time, every time. Well worth the price IMHO....

I've never met anyone that has enough time to use Race Render during the day or between sessions. The easy of use and automatic overlay with the SCHD is worth far more than the premium over a base camera (Go Pro, Contour, etc).

If you need any examples of overlays, sytles, etc, let me know and I can post them up. You can also download SmartyManager2 and play with it to see the different overlays you can do.

I don't personally use any data overlay; I prefer to work directly with the data. But I agree that you don't have time to do the overlay between sessions.

Perhaps the more important point is, in fact, that if it's not easy to do, you won't do it. If you stand to benefit from having it available right away - there's not much question, you need it.

The SmartyCam is well worth it. Use the Replay for rearview, or fun camera angles - on the fender behind the front wheels, low on the nose of the car, etc. Race Render can then merge those for some really fun video.

Here is a fun example of bumper cam video - a close up of my competitors tailpipe with bump drafting just after the green flag. https://vimeo.com/23853764
